The rates for the acts and interventions performed by the judicial officers in civil and commercial matters are set by the Royal Decree of 30/11/1976. In criminal matters, the Royal Decree of 23/08/2015 applies.
The amounts set by these Royal Decrees are indexed annually.
The amounts set by the Royal Decrees are a matter of public policy: the judicial officers are not entitled to claim a higher amount, but also not a lower amount. This guarantees equal treatment of all individuals.
Besides, since the 1st of January 2012, judicial officers are subject to VAT.
